Rajwada Palace is one of the most iconic attractions of Indore, built over 200 years ago by the Holkar dynasty. This seven-storied structure stands tall in the heart of the city and beautifully blends Maratha, Mughal, and French architectural styles.
The massive wooden gateway adorned with iron studs gives way to a courtyard with fountains, gardens, and arched corridors. Inside, you’ll find ornate balconies, intricate carvings, and corridors that speak of Indore’s royal past.
What makes Rajwada more special is the light and sound show held in the evening, which narrates the story of the Holkars and Indore’s glorious history. For architecture enthusiasts, history buffs, and cultural travelers, Rajwada is the soul of Indore.
Lal Bagh Palace – A Glimpse into Royal Luxury
The Lal Bagh Palace is a stunning example of Indore’s regal lifestyle. Built in the late 19th century by the Holkar rulers, this palace is one of the finest expressions of European-inspired architecture in India.
The interiors boast Italian marble pillars, grand chandeliers, exquisite Persian carpets, and lavish ballrooms that once hosted royal gatherings. The walls are adorned with fine artwork, and the Darbar Hall still echoes with the grandeur of the Holkar court.
